- Newsletter: Judy
The first newsletter was posted on the NicA NorCal Web site and a paper copy was sent to all meeting contacts. A copy of the meeting list was enclosed with the paper copy sent to meeting contacts.
- Meeting List Coordinators: John A. and Joyce
John A. reported that the NicA NorCal web site's HTML meeting list was now up-to-date. He also reported that the pdf version of the meeting list would be updated today.
Joyce put together a complete Northern California Intergroup Contact List. John A. is going to set this up as an online mailing list. This will allow us to easily email everyone on the contact list. Everyone on the contact list will now be notified when the minutes have been posted on the NicA NorCal Web Site.
After discussion, it was agreed that an extra column will be added to the contact list. This columns will indicate if that person is a meeting contact and, if they are, the meeting for which they serve as the contact person.
Joyce reported that the Salinas, Placer County and Santa Cruz Friday meetings have closed.
Joyce announced that a mailing would go out today. This mailing will include the following:
A general letter explaining the contents of the mailing.
The new meeting list.
World Serverices Delegate fund envelope and explanatory material. This material asks that the envelopes be returned by 4/15.
Information on becoming a delegate.
PLEASE NOTE: ANYONE WHO WANTS TO BE A DELEGATE SHOULD COME TO THE NEXT INTERGROUP MEETING OR CONTACT SOMEONE IN INTERGROUP BEFORE THE MEETING.
- Web Site Coordinator: John A.
John A. reported the following:
The most popular pages on our Web site are the FAQ, the Meeting List and Literature.
We continue to place highly in the results provided by the major search engines.
We receive a significant number of requests for information. Many of these requests are for information about setting up a new meetings. John A. tries to respond all requests including requests for setting up new meetings. However, the World Services process for helping set up new meetings is not working well and it would help everyone if this process were improved.
New mailing list software will be set up by the next Intergroup meeting.
- Outreach: Catherine
Catherine reported the following:
The committee sent a packet of information about Nicotine Anonymous to a long list of nicotine cessation programs. The committee members followed up by calling each program to make sure they got the materials and to answer any questions.
The committee will meet next week to hear how the call backs went and to plan new projects.
- Chips: Amanda
Amanda reports that one meeting purchased chips. She also reported that there is $38 in the chip fund.
- Retreat: Amanda
The retreat committee had its second meeting over spicy mulled apple cider and other treats and decided the best way to build momentum for a retreat is to ask the fellowship to think about what it wants as far as a retreat or organized retreat-like activities are concerned. The committee brainstormed ideas for how to accomplish this task, including sending out a questionnaire mailing or even making a web site survey. The committee also brainstormed some leading questions to ask.
The next retreat-planning meeting will be held March 25. If you would like to attend, please contact Amanda.
- World Services 2007 Conference: Catherine
Catherine reported that there is an excellent chance that we have found a location for the conference. The prospective venue is the Inn Marin. Inn Marin is located in Novato at the Ignacio/Ignacio Bel Marin Keys exit of Highway 101. It has direct shuttle service to SFO and shuttle service is also available to Oakland Airport. The rate for the conference would be around $95 per night with breakfast included.
Catherine and Ani are very enthusiastic about this site. The will be working with hotel management to nail down final details
- Old Business
World Services 2006. Currently four NicA NorCal members plan to go to the Chicago conference. These members are Catherine, Joyce, Ed and Keith. Members who would like to go as delegates should come to the next NicA NorCal Intergroup meeting or send word to the meeting.
- New Business:
Bringing NicA to Institutions. The prison initiative has fallen off the radar due to problems getting a response from the officials at the prisons. We have not yet had a response from St. Helena about continuing our outreach there.
Sacramento Literature Depot. The Sacramento meetings are planning to have a literature depot.
Speakers Bureau. The discussion about having a speakers bureau was tabled.
World Services Conference 2006. This month's newsletter should ask meetings about concerns they would like our delegates to take to the 2006 World Services conference. These concerns should be discussed at the next Intergroup meeting. This will allow the delegates to hear them and bring them to the 2006 World Services conference.
- Announcements.
