Nicotine
Anonymous Northern California Intergroup Minutes
July
19, 2008
Mandana
House, Oakland
In
attendance: Terry, Keith, David, Ed, Melissa
Monday
Petaluma: Averaging about 7 attendees
Thursday San
Rafael (Kaiser): 10-11 every meeting
Saturday San
Francisco: Going strong with 12-20 every meeting; hasn't
been below 12 since January of this year. A great mix of
newcomers, people with 3-9 months, and old-timers. Best and most
consistent it's been in years!
Monday San
Francisco: Slightly better than before with 3-6 attending
(varies)
Monday
Oakland: Having somewhat of a "revival" recently: 14 one
meeting, then 8 or 9. Some newcomers are sticking around, taking
on service commitments, etc. Former secretary is moving to La Paz,
Mexico, so maybe she'll start an English-speaking meeting in
Todos Santos!
Saturday San
Rafael: Heard there was 3 recently
Sunday H&I
meeting at Turning Point, Santa Rosa: 14 attended, including 3
or 4 with 90 days (Note, this meeting is not on the schedule
because it's H&I)
Tuesday Santa
Rosa: Averaging about 7; one week will be 15, next week will
be 7. Varies. Recently a visitor from an Internet meeting
attended.
Michael M. (not
in attendance) updated the schedule in June
Keith did not
receive the updated version but Terry, Ed and Melissa did. Keith
will contact Michael M. about this.
Big success!
About 30 people attended, from Sacramento area, SF, Grass Valley,
Berkeley, San Rafael and more. Great turn-out, great company,
great food, a great time. Looking forward to doing it again next
year.
Will choose a
date earlier next year so people will have the option to camp
on-site.
Having the
parking fees paid for was a very appreciated gesture.
Regular balance
as of July, 19, 2008: $846.07 (see Ed's Treasurer's Report for
detail)
Of the delegates
who attended May's World Services Conference, one declined their
disbursement, so that money will go back to the Delegate Fund for
next year.
Someone has
bequeathed $1000 to Nicotine Anonymous Northern California
Intergroup, according to a law firm in Bellevue, WA. This person
wrote his/her will in 2004, and died in India in 2007. It is
unclear right now if there are sufficient funds in this person's
estate to cover their donation to Nic A NorCal. Ed, our treasurer,
will keep us posted.
Motion made to
accept Treasurer's Report: PASSED
September will
be in Petaluma at Jerome's at 12pm
November will be
in Oakland
January in
Sacramento? Melissa will contact Dewey to see if his group is
interested in hosting
NOTE: In the
time since the July meeting was held, the host of the Petaluma
meeting realized he had a scheduling conflict in September.
Therefore, it was decided that September's meeting will be held
in Oakland at Mandana House, and November's meeting will be held
in Petaluma at Jerome's.
World Services
Officers' Meeting was held last weekend (July 11-13) in
conjunction with New Jersey/Pennsylvania's "Fun Weekend":
Weekend included a dinner/speaker meeting, softball game,
tug-of-war, BBQ, gratitude meeting/bonfire, workshops, etc. More
than 40 people attended, from New York to Maryland. Fun!
WS Board Meeting:
7 Minutes
It was decided
that Nic A's national newsletter, 7 Minutes, would be restricted
to 12 pages or less, rather than the usual 20. This decision was
met with some controversy; however, the intention was to make 7
Minutes easier to fill and to publish. The newsletter has been
struggling with insufficient written contributions and
insufficient subscriptions. So, tell people in your meetings to
send their work in! And have them subscribe. You can subscribe
online on the same page where you order other literature. (Note:
Keith will check with Catherine to see if she sent in the writings
we did at the Retreat.)
In other news,
Vicky, who has been WS's Outreach person for the past year, has
had to leave the position (perhaps temporarily) until at least
January 2009.
